According to a recent Wired interview, John Flansburgh says that the HR video won't be their mainstream version:
We're actually doing two videos, one for regular MTV consumption and one with Homestar Runner. I feel like if MTV and Homestar collided, the world might explode.
That's too bad. I had hoped HR would reach a whole new group of people.
